  报告摘要:

  Ni-MH batteries are recognised for their good cyclability, low memory effect, wide operating temperature range, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, their use is limited by their low specific energy density, high self-discharge rate, and electrode ageing. The low specific energy density is mainly due to the narrow electrochemical stability window of water, and electrode ageing is mainly due to the corrosion of the active material in the concentrated KOH medium. In Ni-MH batteries, the most used active material is ABn-type compounds, the presentation will focus on the study of these alloys, including the synthesis, structural and chemical characterisation. Their thermodynamic properties with respect to hydrogen will be presented. As examples, the electrochemical properties of AB5 and AB3 compounds as negative electrode material coupling with protic ionic liquids in a half-cell configuration will be presented and compared with litterature. Prospects for rare earth-free negative electrode materials are also presented and discussed.

  • Study of electrochemical properties of metallic and complex hydrides as electrodes, the degradation of negative electrode material in Ni/MH and new proton exchange batteries.

  • Spark Plasma Sintering applied on materials for energy or transportation purposes (hydrogen storage, thermoelectricity, magnetocaloric, High entropy alloys, etc.)
